The Institute is a collaborative effort with sustainability experts from across UBS’s business divisions.

Camila is the marketing and project manager for the Sustainability and Impact Institute team, a role she took up in 2023 after relocating from Credit Suisse’s Marketing Initiatives Sustainability team. There, she had been responsible for sustainability communication and marketing campaigns. Camila worked at Credit Suisse in several capacities over nine years, and before that she was a project manager with a series of multinational finance and consultancy corporations. Camila holds a MBA from the University of St.Gallen and recently finished the Business Management course at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

Vicki Kalb is UBS IB’s Head of Global ESG/Sustainability Research. In addition to leading the Research Department’s long-standing ESG Integration effort (which was established in 2005), key thematic research projects include detailed studies on the investment implications of potential consumer behavioural shifts in consumption of plastic, also “fast fashion;” analysis of the European sustainable finance package and associated regulations; tax as an ESG risk; and an ESG perspective on shareholder distributions. Vicki was previously a US, then China consumer sector research analyst (2000-2004, Salmon Smith Barney and JPMorgan), consumer specialist sales (2004-2008, JPMorgan), Asia sales (2008-2015, CLSA and UBS), Head of Global Outbound Sales (Macquarie, 2015-2018), and Head of UBS’s EMEA ESG/Sustainability Research (2018-2022).

Karianne is Research Analyst – Social Engagement Lead in the Sustainable & Impact Investing team at UBS Asset Management (AM), where she leads social thematic engagement activities. Prior to joining UBS AM, she advised Unilever’s largest pension plans on sustainable investment policies and implementation in her role as Global Sustainability Investment Manager at Univest Company, the internal pension investment team of Unilever. Before that, Karianne worked as a Risk Management Analyst at P-Solve Asset Management. She holds a master’s degree in Investment Management from Bayes Business School in London, a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Rotterdam University, the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and a Naturopathic Nutrition Certificate from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London.

Andrew is Global Head of Sustainable and Impact Investing for UBS Global Wealth Management’s Chief Investment Office. He and his team are responsible for the thought leadership, strategy and frameworks that drive the platform and enable clients to invest for sustainability and impact across asset classes. Andrew joined UBS in 2012, bringing experience in leading investments for a single-family office, long/short equity investing, mergers and acquisitions, and investment banking. He sits on the Advisory Board for the Operating Principles for Impact Management and the ImpactAssets50 Review Committee, among other industry groups. Andrew has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College and an MBA from the Wharton School.

Stevica is the digital marketing strategist for the Institute, with responsibility for its website and the social media content. He first joined UBS in 2018 as a management consultant within the Group Internal Consulting, where he supported the UBS Libor migration program and the Group Sustainability initiative. Stevica has built expertise in digital marketing and project management in his career to date, while developing a passion for working with young people in different non-profit associations. He holds a master’s degree in business development and promotion from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and bachelor’s degree in financial law from the University of Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Richard is the Institute’s editor, working with the organization’s analysts and writing executives to create engaging thought leadership content. He first joined UBS in Hong Kong in August 2021 in a communications role for investment banking. Before that Richard was a financial journalist and editor for 23 years in Hong Kong, where he focused on investment banking, wealth management and asset management, among other areas. Richard first became enthused about ESG when interviewing asset owners about the subject in 2016, and he has written extensively about it in the years since.

Grégorie is the global leader of the UBS Collective Impact and Insights team. She is also an advisor to wealthy families on how to find their purpose, engage in multigenerational legacy planning and have more of an impact with their wealth. She boasts almost 20 years of experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors and has co-authored several publications, thought leadership pieces and curated numerous global client experiences and events. Since joining UBS in 2007, Grégorie has worked as a client advisor for UBS Wealth Management and at the UBS Optimus Foundation. She has also led various strategic and change management projects aimed at improving gender diversity in leadership. Prior to joining UBS, Grégorie worked for several large French companies in human resources roles.

Richard joined the Institute as an ESG analyst in 2023, with a focus on writing thought leadership content. Previously, he worked as an analyst at Absolute Strategy Research where he spent ten years writing investment research for institutional clients and contributing to media outlets including Bloomberg and CNBC. Richard initially specialized in political risk analysis before moving into energy, and he subsequently helped launch research products that focused on Green thematics and macro ESG. Richard brings experience of writing reports on global topics such as the energy transition, the geopolitics of mineral supplies, the hydrogen economy, and public support for the green transition.

William joined the Institute in 2023 as an ESG analyst. Previously he had worked at the London Stock Exchange Group, where he developed methodologies for Sustainable Investment data products. Before that, William was employed at two UK-based think tanks, where he produced policy-focused research across many energy and environment topics. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Oxford, plus a master’s degree in Environmental Policy & Regulation from the London School of Economics.

Mike became the head of the UBS Sustainability and Impact Institute in September 2021, adding to his roles as vice chairman for UBS Global Wealth Management and a member of the Wealth Management USA Management Committee. In his role as vice-chairman, Mike has tried to help explain to UBS clients the impact of macroeconomic, social, geopolitical and policy trends on the investment landscape. He previously led over 50 research professionals as chief investment officer Americas at UBS Global Wealth Management. Mike is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts, holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School and has a Bachelor of Arts on Political Science and Economics from the University of Rochester.

Antonia is a Sustainable and Impact Investing Strategist in the Chief Investment Office of UBS Global Wealth Management. She primarily advises investors and advisors about impact investing strategies and portfolios, plus broader sustainable investing in alternative assets, including private markets and hedge funds. Antonia has long been passionate about sustainability, having worked for the European Commission on development cooperation and finance. She also has experience in areas including family-driven venture capital investments, fundraising for an entrepreneurship education foundation, and a startup in energy efficiency. Antonia holds an MBA from INSEAD in Singapore and France, undergraduate diplomas in Financial Services from the American University of Moscow and the University of Westminster, and a master’s degree in Communications from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Nalini joined the UBS Optimus Foundation in January 2019 and is the Head of Programs and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. She primarily oversees the strategies, philanthropic grant making and impact measurement of the Foundation’s programs in Child Protection, Climate and Environment, Education and Health. Nalini started her career as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University and has since gained almost 20 years of experience in international development. She briefly worked for the Global Health Institute at Duke University and for the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, where she established the Evidence, Measurement and Evaluation team. In addition, Nalini worked for Big Win Philanthropy, where she developed their strategy and established their programs team.

Veronica studied economics and mathematics at the Universities of Hamburg and Cologne and obtained a master’s degree in International Management from the universities ESADE, Barcelona, and HEC, Paris. She completed her doctorate in economics at the University of Berne. After conducting internships in Cologne, Frankfurt, Canberra and Paris, Veronica moved to the Research Department at UBS in 2006, at first in New York and later in Zurich. In recent years she has headed the Swiss Macroeconomic and Sector Analysis in UBS’s Chief Investment Office and oversaw the Retirement & Pension Solutions sector in its Chief Operating Office, covering UBS Spain’s strategy on pensions and UBS pension products. Today, Veronica is an economist, pensions specialist and senior thought leader for UBS Spain, focused on driving further developing the strategic areas of retirement provision, mortgages and sustainability.

Annabel is an analyst on the Global ESG & Sustainability Research team, based in London. She joined the team in 2021 and has published research on global and EU ESG related regulations, climate change & energy, biodiversity, among other topics. Prior to joining UBS, Annabel was head of ESG and an investment associate at a sustainable agriculture-focused private equity fund in London. She holds a Bachelor of Environments from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Sustainable Development from La Sorbonne.

Maya was appointed CEO of the UBS Optimus Foundation in 2022, ten years after having first joined. During this time Maya has made significant contributions to its leading reputation in social finance and collective philanthropy, education, health, child protection and the environment. This included her spearheading the successful launch of the first Development Impact Bond and impact linked loan. Prior to joining the UBS Optimus Foundation, Maya was responsible for managing private sector partnerships at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and UNICEF in Peru. Before that, she held various market development roles at Procter and Gamble in markets such as Iran and Tunisia, and at Peugeot in China.
