In Global Markets, we advise our clients on investment products and strategies, helping them maximize the performance of their portfolios from start to finish. Our teams help clients to buy and sell assets, raise funding and manage risk. We also facilitate corporate and investor transactions in equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities and derivatives of those assets.

We give our clients access to industry-leading technology and electronic platforms, with the speed and flexibility to succeed in today’s markets.

What role does Global Markets play within UBS?

We work with our clients to understand their investment and trading requirements, then offer individualized services that will support their growth and ambitions. Our clients range from corporate entities and financial institutions to sponsor clients and asset managers. Every piece of advice we give our clients is tailored to their specific needs.

We focus on providing services that are simple, intuitive and flexible for our clients to use. From cash equities to credit, derivatives to emerging markets, we give our clients access to the products and liquidity they need, as well as providing them with tailored market insight, trading strategies and execution.

We have strong expertise across the following asset classes; foreign exchange, rates, equities, credit and future.

In addition to our trading and sales expertise, we also have quant and technology specialists who further build our tools and improve how we position our book on behalf of our clients. Their role is to provide trading algorithms and execution consultancy for electronic trading for all products. Our quant specialists are involved in every aspect of algo-trading, from creating strategies to writing infrastructure.

What are we looking out for?

You don’t have to have a finance or business degree to apply to one of our programs. We want students who follow the news and the impact these events have on the markets with curiosity. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment but still deliver thoughtful solutions to complex problems is key. UBS is a great place to work and we want people who see challenges as opportunities and have a desire to grow and develop.

What can I do to stand out?

Being prepared for every step of the application process will really help you shine. Showing an understanding and an interest in how the different areas of a financial services firm work together is a good way to show your enthusiasm. Think outside the box when it comes to doing your research. Read up about us online, reach out to your network, and attend industry events.  It will help you showcase your interest in the role and us as an organization.
